How Sleep Impacts Men’s Health
We often tell ourselves, “Just one more post,” while scrolling through Instagram or TikTok late at night.
And sometimes it’s “Just one more hour” while working late into the night. But it doesn’t always end at one scroll or one hour. We go on for hours and end up not sleeping enough.
Alvendita Sharma once said, “Nothing is perfect in this world; everything has its pros and con.”
And you may have guessed right, our technology usage, crazy work schedule and unhealthy sleep habits have their downsides. They affect our sleep quality in a way that can, according to experts, “add up to a bigger health deficit” than we may recognise.
For men, sleep deprivation can lead to several health problems. Some of these health problems are:
1. Infertility
Lack of sleep can lead to low sperm production and the inability of a man to impregnate their partner.

2. Erectile Dysfunction
Not getting enough sleep can lead to erectile dysfunction in men. And studies show that “men who suffer from a condition called nocturnal hypoxemia are most likely to experience moderate to complete erectile dysfunction later.”

3. Low testosterone and a decreased sex drive
Studies show that poor slumber reduces serum testosterone levels, which can cause reduced libido. And another study showed that sleep deprivation caused a lower sperm count and affected sperm motility. So, not getting enough sleep may harm your overall fertility.

So how do you avoid these health problems? Try this!
1. Establish a consistent sleep schedule.
2. Get 7-8 hours of sleep per night.
3. Create a relaxing bedtime routine. E.g. Practice deep breathing, listen to calming music, and avoid blue light emitting devices.
4. Create a sleep-friendly environment. Dm “Bedding” to try or gift our sleepbessentials and create a sleep sanctuary that improves sleep quality.
