Sleep & Your Health as a Woman

We spend about one-third of our lives sleeping. That’s approximately 25 years. You see, when we sleep well, our brain cleans out the toxins in our body, and we wake up refreshed.

But when we don’t get enough sleep, it can cause problems like mental health issues, weight gain, and hormone imbalances. Yet only half of all women get a good night’s sleep a few times a month.

If you aren’t sleeping well as a woman, you may be experiencing some body changes. Here’s a list of body changes you may be experiencing and some helpful tips.

Ageing and Sleeping Less Soundly
If you’re finding it harder to sleep well as you get older, you can use earplugs, add background noise to your bedroom, or uplift the comfort of your bedroom with quality bedding (like Fluidé bedding essentials). It might help you sleep more soundly and wake up feeling refreshed.

Hot Flashes
A hot flash is the sudden feeling of warmth in the upper body, which is usually most intense over the face, neck and chest. (Mayo Clinic) If you’re experiencing hot flashes, and they’re keeping you up at night, try cooling down your bedroom or using a wet hand towel on the back of your neck. That might help you feel more comfortable and get a better night’s sleep.

Pregnancy
If you’re pregnant, here are some tips to help you sleep better:
Drink less before bed to avoid frequent bathroom breaks.
Avoid heartburn-triggering foods.
Use extra pillows to get more comfortable.

Wear compression socks to ease leg swelling.
Try relaxation techniques like deep breathing or listening to calm music before sleeping.

We hope these tips will help you get better sleep. If you don’t see any changes,
consider seeing your doctor.
