Honest take? They aren’t far from the truth. But self-care goes beyond the occasional white robes and spa treatment. It’s something we need to factor into our daily routines. We care so much about our work, career or business and do something regularly to improve in those areas. But we don’t often add caring for our mental, physical and emotional health into the mix.
To help you enjoy better self-care and improve your quality of life, here are some self-care practices you can add to your daily routine.
- Create a compliments logbook
Dedicate a journal or create a document or album where you document the lovely things people say about you so you can revisit them later. You’d feel uplifted every time you go through your compliments logbook. - Take frequent breaks and be aware
When we love our work so much, it’s easy to zone out and work longer than usual. Dedicate some minutes regularly to doing nothing and be aware of tasks you’d usually do autonomically. - Don’t just eat; eat healthily
Try paying attention to the food you eat. Instead of having that junk meal for lunch, try planning towards and eating something healthy to give your body and mind a positive boost. - Stretch or take a walk
You’d find this especially helpful if you sit all day at work. Do a light stretch or walk away from your desk to relieve stress from your neck and back. You can also take a walk (if you can) and get your heart pumping before you return to your task. - Try a home spa-like treatment
